Most crickets only enter houses by mistake or when weather becomes cold and they are looking for warmth. They typically enter by hoping through an open door and become a problem when they begin burrowing in cracks and behind baseboards. High numbers of crickets are a concern because of their tendency to chew. Their presence may not be known until dark as they are nocturnal and that is when their distinctive chirping begins.
