Voles form massive colonies with a birth rate of 70 young per female per year. If they are not removed quickly, chances are the population will become unmanageable. During periods of drought voles tend to move into well watered lawns and stay there. They also can burry into root systems and cause dieback or leaning of trees. They feed on plants, grass, flowers bulbs, and roots and are often mistaken for field mice.
