Silverfish can be found anywhere inside of homes and prefer room temperature with high humidity. They feed on carbohydrates such as sugars and starches. Books, glue, damp clothing, paper, silk and dead insects can all be food sources for silverfish. Signs of an infestation can be their pepper-like feces or when the homeowner sees one in a bathtub or sink. They do not bite humans and do not carry disease.
